Job Summary:
The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment on power project sites by implementing and enforcing health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, and providing safety training. The role requires compliance with industry safety standards, government regulations, and company policies to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Ensure adherence to local, national, and international safety regulations.
- Monitor site activities to identify and address potential hazards.
- Conduct routine safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Perform risk assessments for work activities and equipment.
- Recommend and enforce corrective actions for identified hazards.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Conduct safety inductions for new employees and contractors.
- Organize toolbox talks, drills, and safety training programs.
- Promote a safety culture among workers and management.
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Maintain records and prepare reports on safety performance.
- Recommend corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans.
- Ensure availability and maintenance of firefighting and first aid equipment.
- Conduct mock drills and train personnel for emergency situations.
- Keep up-to-date with industry safety standards and best practices.
- Maintain safety records, permits, and compliance documentation.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and participate in audits.
Education: Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or Engineering.
Certifications: NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH, or equivalent safety certification.
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in safety management, preferably in power projects (thermal, hydro, renewable energy, transmission, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and risk management.
- Ability to conduct safety audits, training, and investigations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
